"The most miraculous outcomes are attracted to those who dare to slow down." ~Matt Kahn
Hi there and Thank you for considering me for your massage needs.
Please allow me to introduce myself... My name is Erin Brown and I was born and raised in Portland Maine.
I attended Longfellow Elementary, Lincoln Middle and Deering High School graduating Class of 1997. I studied ballet with the amazing instructors at Maine State Ballet from age Four until graduating High School.
I did a short stint at the University of Kentucky with the intention of becoming a pharmacist, but it was clear to me quickly that this was not going to be my path.
I returned to Portland and married a nice local fella in the Coast Guard. We started moving around and I got to live in some amazing destinations. I studied massage while living in Sandy Hook, New Jersey; attending the Institute for Therapeutic Massage in 2004- a 600 hour medical based program associated with the Deborah Heart and Lung Center. I focused on myofascial release, aromatherapy, prenatal massage and deep tissue work. I worked at a medical gym in New Jersey for a short while before we moved to Cape Cod Massachusetts.
There I accepted a position at a beautiful spa in the Four Points Sheraton Hyannis, MA. I was there for a couple of years and then took an opportunity at Beyond Beauty- which included 3 Aveda Lifestyle spas around the Cape. I was here for several years.
We then moved to Nantucket, MA where I started work at Tresses Day Spa- a local fixture.. I quickly recognized the need for an outcall based massage practice on Nantucket and I started my own business, Beech Tree Massage Therapy. It was very successful with the support of wonderful loyal clients and referrals from the best local concierges.
We then moved to Fire Island, NY where I mainly focused on raising my three children and continuing education, including Thai massage which I studied in Rockland, Maine at the Shiva Shakti School of Yoga. Unfortunately, New York does not have a reciprocal licensing agreement with other states, so I was unable to officially practice massage while we were there for a year and a half.
We then returned to Cape Cod where I resumed working with former Colleagues at a beautiful day spa in Osterville, Massachusets.
And finally!! The move back to Maine which I am so thrilled about! I have been fortunate to work with the amazing teams at Migis Lodge, Westin Portland Harborview and Maine Bodyworks. I primarily see clients at my home in Sebago. Occasionally , I will do outcall work under certain circumstances, such as if someone were housebound.
Massage Style:
I would say that my natural style is deep broad pressure, not too pokey. I start each section of the body with some very slow myofascial work before any product is applied.
Myofascial in a nutshell is a stretching of the fascia that is achieved by using gentle traction on the skin. It is not painful, but due to the way that fascia works, it reaches very deep layers of tissue. I borrow some of the stretching, compression work, visualization stuff I learned in Thai and then finish up with some deep Swedish using only the best organic products which can be customized with quality essential oils from Young Living and DoTerra.
I have a lot of experience doing spa body treatments and would be happy to customize a treatment for you upon request. Such treatments include, but are not limited to: scrubs, masques, wraps and would only be a small surcharge to cover product cost.
I also was fortunate to take a continuing education weekend on Nantucket with Pamala Lancaster who is a teacher, author and top healer with Tibetian singing bowls at a destination spa in Sedona, AZ. I generally end sessions by giving a little tune up I borrow from Pam with my highest quality bowls.
I look forward to serving you with utmost care.
